Meet Harbur realty

Trusted Real Estate Guidance in Memphis, for Every Stage of Life

Real estate is more than a transaction. It is a major life decision, and often a major life transition. Since 2000, Harbur Realty has helped buyers, sellers, investors, and families across the Mid-South move forward with clarity, confidence, and experienced guidance every step of the way.

MEET SHERRY

Our Story

Our real estate journey began in 2000, but our experience in housing started well before that. Before becoming licensed Realtors®, we worked as general contractors and property managers. When we relocated to the Memphis area and began investing in rental properties ourselves, earning our real estate licenses was a natural next step, first to help fellow investors build their portfolios, and soon to help their friends, children, parents, and coworkers too.

That is how Harbur Realty grew: one referral at a time. Over the years, we have had the privilege of helping multiple generations of the same families buy and sell homes, and we have now guided thousands of transactions across Memphis and the Mid-South.

Today, approximately 95 percent of our business comes from past clients and referrals. We consider that the truest measure of the trust we work to earn.

We’re Your Guides Because Buying a Home us More Than Just a Transaction

Real estate is never just about property. It is about people, families, goals, and the seasons of life that bring change.

Our guiding principle is simple: we put our clients' interests first. Sometimes that means helping someone buy or sell a home. Other times, it means advising them not to move at all. We never view people as transactions. We see families making important decisions, often during emotional or challenging times, and we care for every client the way we would want our own family cared for.

Ask our clients what it is like to work with us, and you will hear words like responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and determined. One client even called Sherry a “bulldog” during a particularly difficult transaction. Not because she was aggressive, but because she refused to give up until her client got the outcome they deserved.

Meet Randy Harbur

PROJECT MANAGER

Randy spent his corporate career as a mechanical engineer, most of it managing technical systems, product design, and engineering teams as an Engineering Manager at Parker Hannifin. His work centered on fluid dynamics, engine filtration, and component control, and it put him alongside manufacturing leaders like Caterpillar, John Deere, Ford, and GM. Alongside that career, he spent decades managing real estate investments, multi-family properties, and hands-on home improvement projects. What carried over from the engineering years was not a specialty so much as a way of thinking: look at the whole system, find what is actually wrong, and start there.

His role with Harbur Realty grew out of a natural overlap between Sherry's practice and his own background in property management and practical logistics. As her work with seniors grew, the same wall kept appearing. Families were rarely stuck on pricing or paperwork. They were stuck on decades of accumulated belongings and deferred maintenance, with no idea where to begin. Those sellers did not need a list of things to fix. They needed someone to help them do it. Randy stepped in to handle the operational side, and the whole process got easier for everyone.

Today his job is to take the physical weight off the family's shoulders. Most homes do not need a full renovation. They need to be clean, clear, and shown at their best. Randy starts with the hardest part, which is almost always the belongings, coordinating the sorting, donating, liquidating, and clearing so the house can breathe again. From there he takes on or oversees the high-leverage repairs: the safety items, the simple plumbing and mechanical glitches, the patching, the lighting. Then he makes a final pass to be certain the home is scrubbed, organized, and genuinely ready for photographs and showings.

Because he reads a house the way an engineer reads a system, he catches things most walkthroughs miss. Wallpaper and carpet are rarely the real problem. Water is: active leaks, drainage running the wrong direction near the foundation, plumbing that has been quietly failing for years. So are the basics an inspector will flag, like the age and condition of an HVAC unit or a double-tapped breaker. Finding a small repair early keeps it from turning into a negotiating point later, which matters most for families who do not have deep reserves to put into a house before selling. Randy is candid about what is worth doing and what is not. When a home genuinely needs to sell as-is, the strategy shifts to presenting it clean, clear, and odor-free so buyers see the potential instead of the clutter, and the family keeps their capital where it belongs.

Sherry and Randy divide the work along a natural line. She handles market positioning, pricing, negotiation, and the client relationship. He handles whatever is physically in front of the family, so no one is left alone with a basement full of boxes or an inspection list they cannot make sense of. Randy lives in Piperton and is deeply rooted in the Mid-South. When he is not on a house project, you will usually find him in his workshop with a vehicle, a woodworking piece, or his model railroad, or at the piano, which he has played most of his life. Sherry describes him as the husband everyone wishes they had.

Calling the Mid-South Home

Rooted in the Memphis Area Since 1995

We have called the Memphis area home since 1995, raising our family in Germantown and Collierville and, more recently, enjoying a new chapter as grandparents in the countryside of Fayette County. Our favorite days are still spent right here: cheering at grandchildren's baseball games in Olive Branch, meeting clients across the city and region, and walking the Wolf River trails.

That local life informs our work. Harbur Realty proudly serves buyers and sellers throughout Memphis and surrounding communities including Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Arlington, Lakeland, Cordova, Eads, Olive Branch, and beyond. We help clients understand the character, lifestyle, and opportunities of each community, whether you are relocating, downsizing, or moving across town.

Memphis is not just where we work. It is where we have built our lives, raised our family, and continue to make memories with the next generation.
